Taking Custom LASIK one step further:

Banaji Eyecare was the first center in India to start Custom LASIK with Iris registration. This makes the normal Custom LASIK even more accurate and predictable.

 

What is Custom Plus?

Wavefront measurements are taken with the patient is in the sitting position. Treatment however, is done in the lying down position. Between Sitting up and lying down, the eye always rotates either towards or away from the nose. If this is not compensated for, there is a chance of treating the cornea in a position other that where it was measured. Previously, we would adjust for these rotation movements manually.

Now with Custom Plus, Digital pictures of the eye surface, pupil and iris are captured by the Wavefront device with the patient in the sitting position. When the patient lies down under the laser, another set of Digital pictures are grabbed by the laser. Both sets are then matched by aligning the same landmarks with each other and the treatment is delivered in exactly the same place and with the same precision with which it was measured. This technology is known as "Iris Recognition" or "Image Registration".

It is obviously the most accurate and safe method of performing LASIK today.
